Kate Edwards, Junior Editor
Junior Kate Edwards is The Spartan Speaks junior editor in chief. Edwards came to Orono her Sophomore year and had Mrs. Herring in Journalism I. Edwards has a passion for the newspaper because she enjoys the class itself, Mrs. Herring, and she also loves the idea of her own writing going out in the paper for others to see. Edwards likes the fact that Journalism is such a different writing style than any other English class. It allows her to express herself as a writer.
In her free time Edwards enjoys hanging out with friends, cheerleading -she loves the idea of being on a team- and also likes taking on the challenge of going outside of her comfort zone and cheering in front of big crowds. Edwards also enjoys to have some time on her own, because she feels that she doesn’t get a lot of that, so when that opportunity comes up she takes advantage of it.
Edwards’ biggest fear is if anything would happen to her family. Her mom and dad were both in the military and are now retired. When she was younger she would worry about them and their safety. If Edwards could live anywhere in the world for a year she would go to India, because she would love to do mission work and be apart of something bigger.
After high school Edwards plans on going to college on either coast of the U.S. and to see where her life takes her from there. At age 25 Edwards hopes she is at a beginning level job doing what she loves and living on her own outside of Minnesota.
