The first Conspiracy Theory meeting, held in Haislet’s room.

Open your eyes to the new conspiracy theory club at OHS. On Nov. 9, the club held its first meeting during Spartan Hour in science teacher, in Tim Haislet’s room #306. The purpose of the club was to create an atmosphere where conspiracies could be freely discussed and debated. During the first meeting, the Denver Airport conspiracy was questioned. The discussion raised many questions of the real purpose behind the creation of the airport.

The idea for the club was born when the three senior founders — Sammy Patterson, Jacob Ragan and Maddie Fischer — became wildly fascinated in the conspiracies that surround famous, deceased, rock and roll singer, Elvis Presley. Promptly, discussion of the club began, wanting to create a larger platform for students to question likewise conspiracies. Yet, it was necessary to overcome necessary implemented obstacles in starting the club to ensure the success of the club.

After seeking aid from Haislet as a mentor, the club was well on it’s way to be the first ever conspiracy club at OHS. All that was left was for the club to be approved by principal David Benson. Benson loved the idea and provided the founders with dates for meetings to be held in Haislet’s room monthly. However, the newly founded club wishes to grow. Aspirations for the future of the club include: more frequent meetings, customized sweatshirts and the potential of an off campus field trip.

“Conspiracies are highly debated and often overlooked by much of society,” Patterson said.

The newly founded conspiracy theory club is a place where conspiracies are not undermined, but discussed. Haislet’s room provides a safe environment for students of all grades to express their opinions on the conspiracy theories today.
